Ms. Mikki’s Classroom News
March 3, 2017

What a fun week we had celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday!  We started off the week by reading Green Eggs and Ham.  We practiced listening for rhyming words.   As promised we made green eggs and ham.  They each had a turn cracking an egg open.  We talked about the part of an egg (shell, egg whites, and yolk,), mixed the eggs up, turned them green and watched them change consistency as they cooked.  Then of course we ate them!  Well most of us did.  Just like in the story we all tried them.  Some of us LOVED them, and some of us….not so much.  Nonetheless they had fun taking part in making them.  We also created a list of “yummy yummy in my tummy” foods (some of our favorite things to eat), and a list of “yucky yuck” foods (not our favorites).  Cake, corn dogs and cheeseburgers topped the “yummy” list, whereas mashed potatoes (What?!!), and broccoli topped our “yuck” list.

We also read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.  We learned a new song:

All the fish are swimming in the water,
Swimming in the water,
Swimming in the water.
All the fish are swimming in the water,
Bubbles (whisper)
Bubbles (a little louder
Bubbles (loud)
POP!!!! (clapped our hands)

We also practiced matching up fish according to the # on their belly and the number of dots on their friend fish.  We worked on 1-5.

We are working on saying our first AND last name, telling the first letter of our name, spelling our name, identifying the letters in our name, and putting them in order both with a model and by memory.

Dates and Reminders:

Story time:  We had a packed house on Friday for story time.  Thank you for taking time out of your hectic schedules to make time for special events like this.  Attending group connections with your child sends positive messages to your child that not only is school important, but they are too!

Tuition:  Thank you for staying on top of paying tuition.  Including the upcoming week (3/6), and excluding Spring Break (next week), we only have 7 weeks of preschool left.  Hard to believe!

Spring Break:  NO SCHOOL March 13-17.  Enjoy your week!

Spring Conference:  I will be available on March 28th for parent/teacher conferences.  Please send me a message or email me if you’d like to set up an appointment.  I’d love to meet with your to share your child’s progress.

ALL STAR NIGHT:  Dads clear your calendars!  Mom’s plan your “happy hour”.  We have a fun filled night of activities on March 23rd from 6-7.  We will have several sports related parent/child interaction stations set up in the cafeteria.  We hope you will join us.  Wear your favorite team jersey!  Moms you are more than welcome to attend if dad can’t make it!  Don’t forget….PRESCHOOL ENROLLMENT packets are also due this evening along with the first $30.00 payment.

We are still looking for snack donations:  Any parents who would like to donate snacks for our snack time, we would greatly appreciate it!  Some ideas of things to donate: cereal, Cheez-Its, peanut butter crackers, cheese crackers, applesauce cups, peanut butter, bread, cheese sticks, crackers and animal crackers.
